Hey this post isnt a question I just wanna see how many other then me are experiencing a whistle noise because of their audio system when they rev up. i have dont everything to try to eliminate it with no luck. rca and power wires are totaly seperated , ground wires are less then 18 inches, ground loop isolators are in use, all fuses are fine. since i cant think of anything else i just wanna know if i am the only one with the problem

Do you have an fm modulated cd changer?

 

i had this exact problem. whining sounds right? my problem was that i had my amps too close togther. after i moved them out from under the drivers seat it went away. maybe that will help.

 

I have this problem but I put in an upgraded alternator, so that winding sound is my alternator winding up... I think it sounds cool (immitation turbo )

 

try another ground on the radio

 

this is feedback from your alternator. it basically means something isn't right. it's also somewhat damaging. it may have to do with the wire shields not blocking enough RF transmissions, or not using the proper gauge wire. it usually has to do with the power cable feeding back into the signal cable. if you've checked everything out, try replacing your RCA's with some high quality RF blocking RCA's with a real good shield and gold plated plugs. if that doesn't work it may actually be feeding into the speaker wire, look for a twisted pair RF blocking speaker wire. if none of this works, try replanning your system for a balanced line. zapco's symblink should do the trick

 

the reason you might not want to do this is because you will create a ground loop.

however it wouldn't hurt to upgrade your power/ground cables to thicker gauge.

 

I was under the impression the ant. connection provided an adequate ground in most cases. I know it's not as nice as a proper ground, but Doesnt it do the job?

 

Youve got alt whine Best way to get rid of it is to find out whats causing it. Move all wires around(rca, speaker, power, in that order) until whine is gone. If you cant find it then do what cupOZnj said. IMO I wouldnt buy new rca cable though. I would just run a ground wire with the rca wires. Ive done this before when I had alt whine and it got rid of it. and symblink is hella expensive when you have to buy all the little things that end up going with it. I wonder whats so great about it anyways. it runs a power wire right next to signal wires. Then again some people say that power wires do not induce whine anyway

 

the reason symbalink is so great is because it is balanced line. if you don't know what balanced line is, look it up. it is a great technology used in preventing interference. your ethernet uses balanced line.

running a ground wire with the rca wires is pretty much similar to getting better rca wires with a high quality shield. the shield is key because not only does it provide grounding it wraps around the signal wire which further helps prevent RF interference.

that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard. you must not care about how your music sounds. the whinnig is annonying as hell if you have it.

try and find out exactly what is causing it first, then worry about fixing it. if you have an fm modulated cd changer i bet that's where the problem lies, as the RF interference from the alternator may be crossing over and feeding back into that RF circuit from the cd changer.

you gotta remember, the alternator is a big inductor. it's gonna put out some pretty good RF. this can feedback into any circuit, especially if it's not grounded properly. check ALL your grounds, upgrade them with bigger wire, and make sure the ground contact is very clean. you can also mess around with some isolators to try and filter out the noise.
