15" or 12"

well was planning on finally getting me a new system. i was thinking of getting either a 12" or 15" but wasnt sure. reason why i ask 12 or 15 is because i hear 15" subs can play deeper bass way better but wasnt sure if there was a big diff. i was thiking between:

12"

15" is definitely better for a cleaner, deeper bass, but if that's not all you listen to, I would go with 12" subs. I used to have 2 10" subs and I mostly listen to rock and some house and it was perfect for me.

12s are already huge in the trunk. i dont think u can put a 15 in the trunk of a lancer

good luck with trying to find a sub box that holds 15s but small enough to fit in the back

Go with a 12", It saves space and I love the bass on it, this is the sub I have and I love it.

one 12" is plenty for rap with the right set up, the bass put out is all set up by the amp
if you want smooth deep bass get a alpine type R and a vented box, if you want alot of bass thats gonna vibrate everything within a block, get a kicker L7 with sealed enclosure

lemme help clear some things up.
first understand that bass is energy. fundamentally it moves molecules in the air with such great intensity that it can actually move objects, i.e. panels, your licencse plate. but most importantly you. scructural reinforcement of you the trunk will enhance the peformance of any sub system this we all know.[dynamat] your subs will spend more time shaking you around and not your car.
also conseder the type of enclosure the speaker is optimized for. look at the speakers theile-small parameters for a mesurement called EBP [efficiency bandwidth product.]this is simply a measurement based on calculations of other parameters to determine the optimal enviroment for that particular speaker. 50 or greater is more suited for ported, 49 or less, sealed. reason being if you want to use a ported enclosure buy a sub that best performs in one. but whats the difference.?

ported enclosures are generally louder than sealed but at the loss of controlled speaker movement below the ports tuning. they also have a fairly more narrow frequence response than sealed. but a ported enclosure will always be louder than the sealed comparing the two with the same speaker and wattage.

sealed enclosures offer controlled well taunt bass at the loss of extreme output compared to ported. a wider response and less noticable roll off . and dont get to crazy with the cone movement below tuning.

in a nutshell your comparing 12 to 15. inches. your more than likely not gonna fit a 15 in the lancer with out building a custom box and losing your whole trunk. so go with the 12 in a ported box. you'll get nice and loud from that. my experience has taught me that 1 high quality speaker is better than to entry levels. also invest in a nice amp. dont cheap out here. if you gotta cut cost do it at the speaker and not the amp. you can make crappy subs pound with a good amp but cant make good subs pound with a crappy amp.

also seriously invest time and effort into to the sound deadening material thing. it really works and really pays off. and doest really add that much weight.if you go these routes and add proper wiring and capacitation, you'll pound louder and clearer than those with more that dont do it right.

the following info is all fact, search the web and get educated on what your investing your money into.
