How To Tell if Your Speakers are Blown
How To Tell if Your Speakers are Blown
anyone know how to tell if they are blown, i hear a little popping with the sound, the reason I ask is because my reciever stopped working so I called the dealership and they said it along with the speakers are covered under warranty under 37k miles, and im at 32k so I can get them replaced, but I know my speakers are worn out, but I dont know if they are blown enough that they will replace it. Anyone know how to tell? or what I should say at the dealership
Well if you can look at the speakers by removing the door panel or rear speaker covers then you could take a look at the speakers yourself. If they are blown more than likely paper "woofer" around the cone will be ripped around the seam between the paper and the metal/plastic. However, I cannot say this is the only way to tell if they are actually blown. This is just what I have seen whenever someone has a blown speaker. I'm sure there can be problems with the coils as well.
Here is an article that gives a little better explanation of what to look for and what you can do. http://www.howtodothings.com/automot...are-blown.html
As for the dealership I would make it sound like you know what you are talking about. It makes it harder for them to mess with you since they think you are more knowledgable than most suckers they con.
