Speaker question

I'm a car guy mechanically. When it come to audio I'm in idiot. I know absolutely nothing about this stuff. Anyways, I got a blown speaker so I figure I should just replace them all, I'm guessing there are four. Could anyone tell me what speakers I could get maybe form bestbuy or crutchfield that will fit without me having to cut holes bigger or having to make holes smaller(if you can even do that)?

I feel funny even trying to communicate this because I know nothing about this. Thanks ahead of time and hope you can understand what I'm asking for.

It's hard to suggest a speaker because different people like music to sound different. Your best bet is to go to a store and actually listen to what they have on display. If Best Buy is doing your install then i'd suggest the polk audio. If for you Evo, the speakers are all 6.5's and when you buy two sets of polks installed you get $100 off. You'd spend around 240 before tax. Do not get the kickers from Best buy as we sell the 6" and they're a little off. Good luck.

The holes are oversized 6.5"s, I installed cadence CVLS-650's (got em for $109 a pair and they are fantastic, JL's would be sick though) and had to make mounts for them to fit in the holes. Check out sonic electronix, they are usually cheaper than crutchfield imo.

Also, if you aren't gonna amp the speakers, you should stick to coaxials (speakers with midbass driver and tweeter) because you will get the most put of component speaker (crossover, tweeter, midbass separate) if they are amp'd

^agreed^ if going components you have to amp them up i suggest for amps jl 500x4 channel or i hae the eclipse xa4000 carbon fiber i dont think they make it anymore but are great..

also consider good wiring helps the sound better and make your speakers last

crutchfield

Crutchfields website/ customer service is amazing. Their website is the only tool I use (minus amplifiers) to check speaker specs and prices. Go spend about a 1/2 hour on their site; call them if you are interested but hesitant to buy then look around some more. Don't rely on their car selection to fitment just look at all (Component for the front coaxial for the rear) 6.5 - 6.75 speakers. If you have a question on fitment of the 6.75's post again. Are cars are an oversized 6.5 and some 6.75's are direct replacements but probably need more power than the stock headunit delivers. If I were you and still using my stock headunit I would replace the factory speaker because they are the best stock speakers I have ever owned.
