High output alt for decent price?

Hey guys, I was curious to see if anyone knows of/ uses a high output alternator that would be good the evo 8. I'm currently running two amps in my car, 1800 watts total, and at full volume the lights dim and my voltage meter drops when the bass hits so I can't fully "enjoy" my sound system, thanks in advance!

Why not just get a capacitor put in?

I'm sorry if I step on any toes but don't get a capacitor!! This is for a few reasons.
1: A capacitor gives you no additional production of power just a little more storage area. A capacitor can also charge and discharge faster than a battery however this is rarely enough to fix the issues at hand.
2: If addititional storage will fix your problem a better battery (Optima Redtop or yellowtop) or even an additional battery in the trunk can be purchased at a similar price as retail on a good capacitor and has WAY more storage than a cap. But even this doesn't solve the production issue.

Therefore if you are using more power than your car is making, whether you use a cap or an additional battery, the only good solution is like you are thinking, increse the electrical output of an alternator. In my opinion Caps, and even additional batteries to an extent, are only a band-aid, they help the problem but don't fix it. That being said I have no experience with upgraded alternators on the evo so...
Good luck

Wow that's a hefty alternator. Now my question is, would a high output alternator put more drag on the engine?

75d

Optima sells a yellow top battery specific for cadillacs with both side posts and top posts. (The fitment with the top post fuse holding positive I have yet to takle) The top post factory fuse holding 90 blocks the side post, but if you have a stereo like that I'm sure you have bent a wire or two. If the alternator doesn't fix the problem I would lean towards the optima. I've had these before and they are great. Note; you can not charge an Optima with an el cheapo charger since they are a spriral cell. Charging any other way will toast the battery. The 75d? has the same footprint as the 75, but has side posts in addition. Just a thought.
