get a viper alarm system. Ive never installed one myself but a guy in my club has it. The key chain remote is cool. Extra buttons to be able to turn on stuff. has a locking distance of like over a mile.. when it locks the key-chain beeps back at you. Has sensors on different parts of the car and it gives a "warning beep" when people get close. doesnt actually set off sirens till someone gets next to the receiver. Of course they may have different packages but I would go with Viper for sure....

The First thing I bought for my car was the Viper 791XV. Best purchase I have also ever made for my car. Works great I can start my car from a crazy far distance, Tells me when dumb *** bump my car, It's just a great piece of technology and one of the best alarms you can buy. I have heard Viper has a new alarm that works up to one mile. Now thats crazy **** right there.

they do not work with manual trannys because of the clutch having to be in when started... remote starting isnt very smart anyway, IMO not good for the car

viper is prolly one of the best alarms youll get, 2-way LCD remote works miracles, and the shock sensor will even tell u if somebody sits on your car

I have a warlock 2 way lcd remote start and I love it. It has great range and you can program it to roll your windows up and down, pop the trunk, ect.

I didnt install it but It took the shop about 6 hours to put every thing in.

Just picked up a DEI Python 700 2-way led car alarm new. It came with a prox sensor, remote start and bypass module, these were used but the alarm is brand new. All for $180 off ebay. I love ebay.

Its a full featured 2 way minus the lcd. All i care about is knowing if someone is messing with my car, could care less about a lcd. It also has remote shock sensor adjustment, this I like. And with the prox sensor, if someone gets to close or puts their hand into an open window it will go off.

I will be installing this over the weekend.

I worked at Circuit City, and I now work at a private shop... All in all, the people at Circuit City are just as qualified as the people here at the shop... It is just that, ... the guys at the privite shops are usually have more experience, and are more... creative...

If it is something that isn't custom... I really would not care much where I got it, so long as it is warrentied... (It might take longer if the person does not have more experience)

Oh, and have you looked into Compustar units... thats what we sell here at Tintmasters (located in MN, and ND)... They have units for manual transmition... I have the top of the line one on my OZ, and its ok (I like my moms secound from the top unit ALOT better), the response time seems slow sometimes, but the range is unbeatable... I should of sacrafice range for response time...

I am impateint.

I also talked with the manager about installing my Indiglo racing gauges and he was cool with it. I just hope the install is good wish me luck this whole thing cost me 750

i own a stereo shop here in l.a., and of all the brands i carry the new viper 2way with long range has been the best, as in range and response time. another cool option of the vipers is the gps tracking, which will help your insurance a little.

I have a scytek alarm and remote start in my 02 OZ. i installed it myself and it works fine. its not as good a brand as viper but it works for me. as far as not installing in manuals tranny, I weighed the risks and decided that i wanted it. no shop will install it and you will be in for a massive install and will need the wire diagrams for your car. in the lancer, it is easy to fix the problem of the clutch needing to be depressed. just get under the dash and lok at the wire coming off the clutch. it terminates at a two pin plug, which you just unplug and the car always thinks the clutch is depressed. you can now start the vehicle without pushing the clutch in. i also installed a switch on my E-brake that will not allow the remote start to engage unless the e-brake is pulled all the way up. a friend of mine went as far as putting kill switches in each of his gear positions so that it wont engage in anything but nuetral. I tested mine with the e-brake pulled to see if it would drag and it just sat there and spun the tires. the car barely moved. If it kept it up, i think the starter pinion would have broke. So you wont have to worry about coming down to your car and seeing it plowed into the wall or whatever, but you may have to drop some cheese on a new starter. in my opinion, if you pay attention when you get out of the car, you will never have a problem.

I would go with the Viper 990 as it has a mile range and 9 time out of 10 you will never has to service/have any issues with it...
