Tuner Issue, help please

Hey guys,
ok so audio is not my string point. I bought a head unit from a friend of mine. Its an Eclipse CD3434, I know they are decent units but i dont know anything else about it since i dont have the owners manual. It seems that for some reason the SEEK function on the tuner has gotten so fine that it wont pick up any station that isnt 100% perfect and at full signal power. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the SEEK on these units ? Thanks guys.

Look up the owner's manual online; it might even be on the Eclipse site. It should tell you. I believe there are even a few modes of tuning in the radio on my Alpine. So you're in luck...

Yeah, did a quick 30 second look and nothing... But the only thing I'd recommend is to play around with it; I think my Alpine had 3 to 4 different settings. I just wish I could remember what it was labeled as...
Sorry, but good luck.

Have you tried contacting Eclipse for a manual? Maybe it's not popular enough for them to post on their website.

This is a quote from my Alpine onwer's manual...

"Press the Source/Power button until a radio frequency appears in the display.

Press the Band/Tel button repeatedly until the desired radio band is displayed.

Each press changes the band: FM1-->FM2-->AM

Press the Tune/A.ME button to select the tuning mode.

DX Seek (Distance Mode)--> DX Seek (Local Mode)--> DX Seek (Manual Mode)

Distance Mode : Both strong and weak stations will be automatically tuned in (automatic seek tuning).
Local Mode : Only strong stations will be automatically tuned in (automatic seek tuning)
Manual Mode : The frequency is manually tuned in steps (manual tuning)

Press the I<< or >>I button to move through the station blah,blah,blah...

Ok, so I hope this just might spark something to get you into the right mode there.

Good luck!

Thanks for the copy but sadly the eclipse has totaly different buttons. The eclipse site only has the manuals for there newest stuff up there and this is a few versions removed. I guess if no one has anything ill have to call and see if i can find a manual.

you may also want to get a generic antenna and plug it into the back of the radio and see if it works right, it might be your antenna.....especially if you changed or modified the mast on the original

I changed the original mast for an S2000 antenna. It works fine when its set for a particular station. I think it must just be that the tuner is really sensative to what it thinks is a good station.

did you connect the power antenna wire? even though it is not a motorized antenna it still requires power to power the booster for reception....common mistake on cars with euro style antennas.
