now, simply follow all of these steps in reverse order to put the door panel back on, do all the same on the left side and you've got yourself some new speakers! hope this helped some people out; enjoy!

actually, 6 1/2's. but, the bracket lets them fit in the 6 3/4 space (luckily)... if anybody's got any questions about any steps, or any little stuff i skipped (like unscrewing the 2 tiny screws on the ends of the door panels), feel free to ask me in the forum or IM me at: littledevii666

Nice work. It makes the process seems less frightening now.

Good documentation.

why remove the lil corner plastic piece?
I left mine there... lil harder to get back in. but avoided a step.
I didn't unplug the power to the door until I had the door off. so I wouldn't have to pry it up.
I didn't remove the door molding either.
that is a step ya dont' have to take.

just remove the 4 screws, pry the plastic, unplug the power, remove old speaker, put in new speaker (make sure it's not to deep!) put door back on.

but good work on the pics. glad ya have better sound.

the lil corner plastic piece made it real hard for the door panel to go back on. ha, as for the other stuff... yea, i guess those were unnecesarry steps. including pics and such, the right door took like 35-40 minutes. but, the left only took like 10-15 since i wasn't takin pics (that includes unnecessary steps

Any vibration problems, or did you do/add anything to help with this? With the stock system my pass door already rattles a bit, I fixed it a lot by removing the door handle insert & shoving some high density foam between the panel & door just above this point (I'm about positive the vibration is the panel rattling against the door with bass). Wondering if you've encountered any trouble with this.

Very well done.

Dan

BTW, where'd you get the Kenwood & drivers? I generally use Crutchfield, good service & selection, but always looking for better/cheaper sources.

i actually have no rattling or unneccessary vibration in the doors and/or the rear deck. the rear speakers (older alpine 6.5's; the all blue ones) i actually got when i was in Poland for a week last month. they ran me about 75 bucks for the pair. the front speakers (alpine 6.5 type-s) i bought at circuit city for 85 or 90 bucks or somethin for the pair. the head unit i bought at tweeter on sale for 179.99. so, i made out pretty good. abou 400 total for all equipment plus no installation charges! i was originally planning on ordering all my stuff from discount online mail order like www.ikesound.com or www.nexxon.com but since i saw those good deals in stores i didn't want to wait.
