power is being grounded somewhere or you have an ungodly ohm load on the speakers. make sure that you dont have a stray power wire touching the ground.

If it doesn't turn out to be a ground issuse or a speaker issue, you more likely than not have an internal short in the amp. Give it the ol' sniff test. If it smells like burning, there's your problem. And most of the time, it's time for a new amp.

Got that kind of problem one time. My ground was hooked to the 12V input and my power wire was hooked on the ground (don't ask how, I still don't know). Maybe that's your problem?

I kinda figured he would have known if the amp had an internal problem. Any weird noises coming from the amp or sub before you had this problem?

I too have seen an amp hooked up ground to power and vice versa. It was done on purpose though. some smoke and then it died.

Ya def check to see if grnd and power is reversed... a friend of mine came to me once askin me to tune his amp... he already had it wired up, he started the car and pop pop, fuses blew... i then realized he had grnd and power switched. We laughed, replaced fuses, tuned, and he went boomin away =P

The poor thing kind of got abused by me sometimes with always takin it in and out for putting my mower in the trunk for the lawn that i mow to be nice for these old people down the street but am to lazy to walk it. hehehe.

but.. its free to fix

thanks for the advice, ill keep it in mind if this crap happens again.
