detachable faceplate poll

I just wanna see who actually takes off the faceplate when you're not by your car. Gimme a simple YES! or NO! or possibly a "Im too good for a detachable faceplate"

And if you could, give me a reason you do or dont take off the faceplate! Thanks!

yes, eventhough it was only a 200 dollar h/u i still like to have a sense of security when i walk away from my car. although i just put it in my glove box, lol, so a thief has an even easier chance of getting it if they guess. anyways, i only take it off when i'm at the mall or some place where there's lots of shady people, not like in my driveway.

I take it off depending on where I'm parking, and my driveway is actually one of the places I pull it off. Parking lots in the day are probably not a problem, unless it's a real bad area of the city.

i take my h\u everywhere i go....had my last one stolen in the lancer...cost me a new radio and a window...well insurance paid for it, but there goes another claim....so i take it off everywhere i go...because who would take the time to take the whole thing, and not even have the h\u, what a waste of a stolen peace....

Mostly no since if you have any idea how hard it is to actually install the Lancer stereo, then you'd have a clue as to how hard it'd be to actually steal it. Some crazy iso mount chassis they got in there.

Well I never said impossible, just marginally more difficult than most. Not every thief is going to want to rip apart a dash such as ours.

never have, when i used to have a wrangler i'd just leave it on even with the top down...I had one of those alarms that would tell you to 'STEP AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE" so people were alway afraid to get close to my car. When i get one for the lancer i wont take it out--too lazy.

I leave mine on. If anyone's gonna steal it, not having a faceplate isn't gonna stop them. The razor blades will.

i take it off when i'm at a big parking lot like at the mall or something. even then i usually just put it in the glovebox, it's more a thing like if someone were to break into my car for my radar detector or something, it would be very easy for them to just pop the face off and steal that, you'd be surprised there's a lot of dumb criminals out there that would steal just the face and not the radio....then again maybe they are smart, they could sell the face back to stupid people like me who would have it stolen in the first place.

i searched really hard for a unit that didn't have detachable face, they don't really make em anymore especially the style face i wanted...i'd rather have it on there permanantly so if someone was gonna steal the stereo, they'd have to be set on stealing the whole thing.

besides that, taking the face off is just that much less attraction that is drawn to my car. a nice aftermarket unit draws more attention than a blank hole in the dash.
