Lightbulb LCD screen mounting

I did a search but found nothing super useful, so I'm turning to the general public for a little help/advice. I bought a 7" lcd wide screen and am looking for a place to mount it. I have it mounted right now, but its just temporary cause I know I'm not going to be fully happy with where it is. Any guys with LCD monitors that are not in visors/head rests, if you could give me some info on where you mounted them and why that would help a lot.

As it sits right now I have two options I am considering.

1. Take out the head unit and re-mount that in the glove box, and mount the screen where the head unit use to be so it is at eye level.

2. Get a custom fiber glass enclosure build above the ash tray so it is angled towards me while sitting in front of the shifter.

Right now I'm drifiting towards option #1 because I think the H/U in the glove box would be pretty friggen nice, and the mount would be a lot easier to remove and be less expensive. Also it gives the people in the back seat a chance to watch as well.

Right now I have my PS2 hooked up and mounted nicely under the drives seat, so the CD tray pops out under my legs. When I get it all installed I plan on taking tons of pics. I spent almost 3 days running the wires and hooking up fuses and switches so I plan on doing it right if I'm going to do it at all!

Any thoughts/comments/criticism is apperciated!

Thanks!

-Rocky

Personally, rather than have to reach across the car to change channels etc, I'd purchase the Mitsu part that mounts the HU in the bottom cubby.
(Yes, I know there are remotes, but they don't always have all the features you're looking for.)

Other than the glovebox idea, I like the way it sounds to be shaping up.

You can move the head unit to the lower cubby with a mitsu dealer part and put the screen in the top one.

hmmm, I never really thought about how far the reach would be over to the glove box... yea... I'm a dumbass.

great info with the part that works out better because I kinda scrached up the inside of the old cubby when I was drilling a hole for a switch and didn't really look what I was hitting on the inside. Thanks guys!!!

tell them it's the piece they use to put in the 6 disc cd changer. Just don't let them sell you the changer too.

hey, you two both have good ideas. I like that headunit in the glove compartment deal, but let me know how that CD-changer idea goes. I got two 6" LCDs in the head rest, a playstation 2 and a Pioneer DEH-P7500MP headunit. Getting some 10"s in a few weeks, i want a kick, but not a bang. Like i said, let me know if it works cuz i want to put in a LCD for the front passenger side

Why don't you just buy a all in one head unit with a 7" LCD screen. That way you have all in one and you still only use one slot and leave the other open for what ever.

I have seen a picture (wish I would have saved it) that was of a J-spec or UK EVO either a VII or a VIII. It had a vid-monitor in the center of the upper part of the dash where the Clock is now in the US spec. Also I have seen pics of the A/C unit in the cubby and the Radio opening was a full double din opening. Might wanna look into those 2 options

yea the one you said first
about mounting it where the clock is it the plan now

I'm moving the H/U down to the cubby, the moving the LCD up to where the deck use to be and building a custome bracket for it. Paying off some speeding tickets right now so its put on hold for a few weeks.

I'll get some pics when its all done though
