Lightbulb Remote Car Starter (2008 Lancer)

I was wondering if anyone has been able to get a remote car starter for the 2008 Lancers. I've tried a few places, but since they havent found a method to bypass the security, they want to basically destroy my spare key by using the chip out of it.

And I dont want to spend a couple hundred bucks getting a new key from the dealer. Wondering if anyone out there has had any luck with this...

The coded key only needs to be within a few feet of the ignition. Many alarm installers just simply hide the spare key up under the dash. The Nissan Titans were the same way. No need to destroy the key.

What this does is trick the immobilzer to think the key is within range or in the ignition. Its very simple.

Trust me, I run a car audio/video/alarm shop.

Correct. This is what they did with my 2003 GTS Eclipse when I had remote start installed on it. 2nd key went right under the dash hidden in a box. No need to decimate the key that goes to the car.

Well instead of getting a proper replacement key for $250, i'm just going to get a programmed dummy key (not actually customcut and no buttons, just the chip) for about $100 and use that for the remote starter. Going to give it a shot this weekend, so hope the plan works!

hey guys, I thought that when you leave the key inside the car, it doesn't allow you to lock the doors..

can that be deactivated?

Why spend a $100 when you already have a spare key?? Have the spare key placed up under the dash and save yourself $100 for the RRM pulley

i was sure there would be problems because of the FAST key but what causes the problem with the regular key ?

Placing the key under the dash is for the regular ones without the FAST key as well. All the keys regardless have the immobilizer chip in it. This keeps thieves from hotwiring your car.

Its just a spare key. Zip-tie it behind the glove box, then if you ever need it, its easily accessable.

Ah yes nevermind I was thinking of something else. But yeah I know what you're saying about storing the spare key in my glove box. But man if anyone breaks into the car, and gets the spare key, they dont even need to worry about hot-wiring the car.

And in a less extreme case, if I drop my regular key with attached remote starter somewhere, I wont be able to get into the car to grab the spare key.
