So I'm new into the whole car scene, but one thing I know is that my stock '03 ES system has to be improved, so I found a rockford fosgate 10" 4-ohm sub with 500 peak and 250 watt RMS, for $80, so was thinking about 2 of them and a rockford fosgate amp (975-watt mono) $150...so my question is, is that reasonable or is there much better out there? also i have yet to look into decks, so i'd like some insight on preferences...thanks

is the amp 975w rms?

of course theres better out there..there always is..but if your looking to get a more out of your sound system, that will definately do the job for you..as for a deck..its rly a matter of how much you want to spend on it..but i would not go with the stock deck..u can pick up a deck that will do the job for you for like..$150-$200 installed..or u could spend $1500 its all up to you.

i dont know much about subs...ie what to be looking for...how to match things up and so forth...good deals vs. bad ones

 

idk if ur on a budget or what your price range is or anything..but if you want to push those subs to there 500 rms (250 a piece) you are going to need a better amplifier..

the problem is these subs are at 4 ohms..generally amps work better at 2 ohms and sometimes 1 ohm (i.e. memphis amps) but theres a kenwood (
Kenwood KAC-9103D) on crutchfield.com for 300$ thats 500rms monoblock at 4 ohms so thats about what you would need..

to be honest with you i would try to find a different set of subs that are going to work at 2 ohms..
Kicker CompVR 07CVR102 <--these kickers are like..130 a piece but there dual voice coil 400 rms at 2 ohms..10" and if you got 1 and the proper amp it should be louder then what you were lookin at..if you got 2 with the alpine 800 watt rms amp or sumthin to that sort..ud be well set off..

my point is just search into it..if you have any local stores you might want to ask them..but if you go to best buy/cc etc. (idk what you have in canada) i would strongly reccomend not buying from them..theres also ppl on the forum here that are trying to get rid of some good stuff for cheap you may wanna look around for that too..
