removing plastic behind cupholder
removing plastic behind cupholder
i definitely get better bass when my seats are down, because the air can travel to me, but i dont like driving around with my seats down all the time. have any of you removed that plastic peice behind the cupholder/armrest? i think this would be a good solution.
I don't know that I've ever seen this done to a Lancer, but every car I've seen it done to has looked like ***. I don't think it has much to do with the difficulty of the job, more the time it takes to do it nicely. The problem you'll probably find is that there is a peice of sheetmetal behind the armrest, as there is behind the entire seat. So unless you've got some tools with which to fabricate metal, and some upholstry experience, I wouldn't tackle this job. But, if you feel you're up to it, take your time, and make it look nice.
I wouldn't expect miracles out of it though. It will make your bass louder, but not as loud as if you folded down the seat. Most of the time, when I want more bass, I'll just drop the 40 side, and that does well enough without looking silly with both seats down.

like Higgity Hank said... cutting the armrest part out would only add a little bass. With subs in my lancer, i usually roll with the entire back seat down. when i put either the 60 or 40 side of the back seat up there's less bass. cutting a mitsubishi-star logo in the seatrest part would be even less bass then with the cupholder part cut out. it'll be a little more then with the seats up, but not significantly.
