aight we decided to go with the jbl p80.4. but is says its only 40w at 4 ohms rms. is that enough for the mb quart? the speaker itself says 60-130w but i dunno if that is rms.

should be plenty of power. with that amp, you'll be running 40 watts RMS to each speaker, and around 80 peak. most speakers should only be so lucky.

130 watts is most likely the peak rating, so rms would be a little under half that, or around 70 watts rms.

MB Quart is a hig class company and does not use a "Useless" peak rating. Word of advice - If you see peak or maximum power, its not a company with a good amp. Its a company with a good marketing team. I would reccomend a minimum of 50X4 for the Quarts. Have used them for the last 7 years and they like plenty of "Clean" power. BTW, even though they come with crossovers, one should still use a highpass filter on the speakers. The passive xover does not supply HP xover for mid woofer.
