The advantage of a 1 mile range is extended reach when behind barriers such as cement/steel/etc. More powerful alarms have the ability to make it into shopping malls/parking garages etc. Also most two way alarm's main purpose is remote start confirmation.

 

well normally when my alarm goes off, the car is silent but the alarm pages me, so usually i juts glance out side and usually find that people are looking at it or someone tapped it with a shopping cart or something. what you really have to look out for is when the car pages you telling you that your door is opening and your inside a building or something...
