I was thinking Alpine too. I love Pioneer decks but they are usually blue.

yea i could change the gauges to blue but i already have them all red and it'll be easier to just get a new head unit. yea pioneers are awesome too. i had a pioneer one but it lighted green and after i changed my lights to red i put that one in my dad's car and decided to just get me a new one lol.

kidneytheif13, thanks for that link. that unit is looking like a good choice right now. does it actually have a cd tray or is it one of those units that only work with ipods/zunes? cus they only have one pic and in the features it mentions a cd changer? even though i think it only looks like a 1 dics player. it says that it is "remote control ready" so i'm guessing it doesn't come with one already which kinda sucks. but i was looking in the accessories and they have a remote for $20 and one for $50. i should just need the $20 one right?

EDIT: nvm i figured out the alpine one doesn't have an internal cd player . the problem is i don't have an ipod/zune and don't wanna buy a headunit AND mp3 player. so i'm looking for one with an internal cd player

For the other, previous Alpine I posted, it says it has a USB port. So, if you had a thumb drive, that would probably work & you could play music off of that. 2 GB thumb drive costs $20 or less now & you can get great deals on them.

Here's another Alpine, it has some blue, but also red. Plays cds.

Has anyone owned a Eclipse car stereo? If so, how is the sound quality? Can it be compared to Alpine?
Thanks.

If you have an ipod you should get the IDA-X001 or the newer version IDA-X100. The color can be changed from blue to red & they have the nicest & fastest ipod control I have found. The only negative that I have found is that it doesn 't have a CD player in it because it was built specificaly for the ipod. I love mine & they can be found fairly inexpensive on Ebay.

Oopsy my bad, Ive owned a Sony tape deck (that fell apart) and then got stolen, I liked it though, then I bought a Kenwood I guess it was ok but I didn't get any real satisfaction of getting in my car and turning it on, although it was very easy and practical piece (I mainly got it because of a friend of mine whose a Kenwood fiend suggested it) it went away with a car I sold.
Then I said f***k it and got a Alpine since everyone I asked was like Alpine the s***t man! well it did get that feeling the first few months but then it fizzled out. My mediocre experiences with car stereos might be because I usually go for the entry level (low end) units. I have to add that I came across a fairly new Alpine model X000 something and it look super cool, I guess I just need to save up my pennies and get a top of the hill model.

Oh now I remember it was a x100 unit I think, oddly what I liked about it was the old school clock.
