Question about stock Evo stereo

The Evo has the 6 speaker setup. I highly doubt the HU has 6 speaker output, and I doubt there's an external amp. How is the frequencies being divided for the fronts? Are there crossovers?

thanks

When I replaced my Headunit it look like the Front tweeter and door speaker are acting as seperates so they are spliced together . You only need a four speaker setup. There are no crossovers, from my understanding there are bassblocks on the tweeters up front.

HU has LR outputs for front speakers. Front tweeters have cap inline, can't remember the value though. Factory door and deck speakers are 4 ohm 15 w, shallow depth with fairly small magnets and paper cones. Tweeter looks to be maybe AL. The speakers sound much better with an upgraded HU. I used a Eclipse CD8443 for about a week with the factory speakers, and they sounded much better. Although with the extra power, you quickly realize the limits of the factory system, so I just put in a whole new system.

Thanks everyone for your help. Just picked up a Sony HU (couldn't pass up the deal) and will try and install tomorrow. Think I can run components off the HU? Supposedly rated at 23W RMS. Like others, trying to stay away from adding weight to the car.
