Mounting crossovers

Im putting a set of crossovers in my 03 ES for my front components. I've done some research and most people are saying to put them in the door, under the passenger seat, and behind the glove box. I cant find much room in the door, and I read they might get damaged from moisture. If they were going to go under the seats would I have to make a bracket or something, or would I just drill away? What about behind the glove box? I dont see much room there.

More than anything I would like some pictures on where you guys mounted yours, thanks guys.

I wish I could tell you where I mounted mine but I have yet to my fronts. I have a set of MB Quartz components ready to go in the front...my only fear is running the wires through the door loom into the car.

I have seen most people mount it in the door itself...I was thinking of mounting it all in the trunk but that would be a lot of extra speaker wire for no good reason.

There is more than ample room for both components on the left of the radio next to steering column if u look under driver dash lots of open space... I just snuck it there tightly... But I'm also wondering how to send speaker wires through the door loom. Seems impossible though I know someone on here has done it before. Just not sure who?

i suggest putting them in the door somehow. i mounted mine actually on the door panel itself. if you do that, then: you dont need as much speaker wire, less time taken for the install, and dont have to worry about running speaker wire through the boot (use existing speaker wire for signal). if you put them inside the car somewhere, you have to: allow more time for install, find a REALLY GOOD hiding place, have a lot of extra speaker wire ($), and run the wires through the boots.

but if you do go through the boots, pop the boot out from the door and car body, run the speaker wire to the hole in which all the wires go through the boot, and when you want to go through the boot, scrunch the boot together and use your fingers to push it through the boot, then into the hole in the door and your through. re-apply boot and youre done.

good luck

mine usually just float around behind my sub box lol, but you could get some velcro and stick them to the carpet under the passenger seat

when i install Xovers, i like to keep them close to the speakers, even though extra speaker wire is cheap... i always think the shorter the speaker wire the better (as far as sound is concerned)

I mounted mine right behind the glove box. Really, its on the back of the glove box. Hidden, but you can access them in seconds if you need too. If you look under my 04 and 03 lancer, I should have pics of where I put them. As for the back ones, You can mount them under the plastic pieces.

Hope you haven't mounted these yet. Don't put them in the doors!! I have totally ruined xovers before because of moisture. On the other hand if you are in Vegas, maybe you can get by with it. You might be an exception.

I put my MB Quart xovers under the driver seat. The wiring is easy to get to with the factory harnesses already there. Plus I only needed to velcro them to the carpet. It sounds kinda lame, but they aren't going anywhere and can't be seen.

Yeah hey have been in a while, under the passenger seat out of sight, it was really easy to run it all, just a bit of a tight fit through the door grommit with two runs of 16 gauge wire

Running the wire in the door is the hard part. They might be fine under the seat. The downside is if someone pushes something under there, like trash, their feet and other things, it could knock the wires loose and could lead to alot of other problems. I hid my wires behind the cd player in my 2g eclipse, but I had tons of room back there, and, of course, in my lancer, they are mounted on the backside of the glove box. Best to hide them somewhere they won't get damaged.

I ran a 2-channel cable through the door. That's like 4-gauge. It wasn't so bad...

Just spray some WD-40 in the rubber harness and it slides through like butter

That idea is great. It almost makes me want to rewire mine with bigger wire, for the fun of it.
