audio help

hey guys!
my sound system keeps screwing up on me
as soons as I pop my deck in and turn my stereo up the slightest (not talking about booming loud, just enough so I can hear sound), my amplifier shuts off. when i bring my sit up to look at my voltage, it reads like 7.6. i have done the big three and have seen my volts as high as 14.3. it just started a couple of days ago, and i have had the same system in my car for about 9months now. has anyone had this sort of problem. also does anyone know where i could get an HO alt for a 2003 lancer es

where are you measuring voltage from? it may be a problem with the wiring of the amplifier, like loose ground or something.

for a H.O. alternator, I would check ebay for one, or e-mail nathan at www.excessiveamperage.com and get a quote on a custom made one

Is the impedance on you subs (total) correct for you amp. i.e. if you have four 4-ohm subs in series with a amp that give XXX watts at 4-ohms. That would be bad when turned up. Also do the subs require more power than the amp can provide? I have seen bad set-ups where a guy had a 300 watt RMS sub hooked up to a 100 watt amp that had 300 watt peak listed on the front so he thought it was good for 300 watts. Not that you don't know the difference but I figure can't hurt to ask.

Also if you battery is close to giving up the ghost it may cause this when the amp(s) draw more than the alternator is giving. I don't mean a dead battery just a old less efficient one.

hmm maybe a possibility...im using a used deep cycle battery. my amp and sub connectivity is fine, but it is a possibility for the battery
