Satellite Radio Antenna

Any audio gurus know if there is a way to mount a satellite radio antenna (it's about the size of a computer mouse) using the existing antenna or wires ?
I've been told by a couple of audio installers that a separate mount is needed for Sirius or XM and separate wires have to run along the back window through the trunk. Seems like that would look junky and there's got to be a better way.

satellite radio antennas are different than normal antennas, they pick up differnt wavelengths and are made that way. ive seen many people mount it on the roof, they pass the wire through the rear windows somehow..not sure how they did it but ive seen it like that a lot.

I know all that, I'm just trying to figure out a way to do it without passing the wire through a new opening.

You'll have to run and hide the wires.

I have mine velcro'd to the top of the rear deck in the center. It basically looks like it belongs there, with all the other plastic crap. The wires just run straight down into the trunk and you can not see them at all. No problems with reception and no black terd antenna on the top of the car!

Cool, I temporarily just set mine in the back there to see how reception is. Drove about 50 miles yesterday and never lost signal. Think I'll put it there for good. Don't want it on the top (looks dorky like you said) and makes people wanna steal ****!

I'm guessing you hid the wires from the dash all the way around??

No wires showing anywhere. These cars are easy to hide wires in and there is plenty of space along the door edges for just about any wire to fit. My satellite receiver is just stuffed behind the trunk wall carpet, on the left passenger side, not bolted in and it is a tight fit, so it does not move around. Only time I ever lose any reception is in the tunnels around here and that is because they apparently did not run the antennas all the way through them, so you lose signal every now and again for a sec or 2. One spot in WV where I lose signal, but that even happened when I had it roof mounted on my Durango....I think it is just a WV thing for that lose of signal.
