Audio Question

Hey guys,
I was thinking about upgrading my sound system and wanted to know how much wattage could our cars handle before we would need to upgrade our alternator. I currently have a 10w7 with a 500/1 amp and a 180-200 watt (can't remember) 4 channel amp. Also I drive a 2003 es.

thanks

from what i know the sound system and all other electronics run off of the battery the alternator is used to supply enough power to keep the car running after the initial crank....please do not attack me this is purely based on my knowledge for all i know i could be wrong lol

yea from what ive been told its because of the power surges from the amp to the battery, everything electrical runs from the battery, the battery's only purpose is to crank the engine over during the start....or so ive been told
