New Headunit.

Well I got a new alpine head unit however now when I turn my music on you go to a low volume setting like 10 and its already really loud..

Did I do something wrong when I installed it or is this just the way it is?

The reason Im asking is because to hear a decent ammount of bass from my subs the vocals are waaaaay to loud.

Well .. if you have tweeters installed, that could be it. I've got 4- 2.5" tweeters total .. 4 6.5" midrange and 2-10's in my box. I've noticed that my vocals are loud ... louder than I had wanted. Tweeters are very directional, so that could be it. I found that with a little tweaking of my amp settings and the HU settings, I found a good medium for bass bumping thump and being able to hear vocals as well. Definately check the HU settings and play with it some.

I dont have tweeters yet. I still have the stock speakers.... They are gettin power from the head unit.. They just seem really loud.. I know the stock deck is crappy but I had to have the volume at like 16 or more to have it fairly loud.. Now I go to 12 and its really loud..

i dont think u can compare two different headunit's loudness with the volume numbers..

and with aftermarket headunits, they are generally higher powered than stock cd players so they will sound "louder". try turning the treble down or something in the meantime..i dont think there is a wiring problem here..
