Loud noise

okay so 5,000 miles after putting in my new clutch throw out bearing and pressure plate in its making a loud grinding noise at idle but when u push the clutch in it goes away. But i can also hear the noise when i start off in first gear.

Anyone have any ideas? throw out bearing? input or pilot bearing? Not enough clutch play maube i have to adjust the pedal?

Could be the throwout bearing.

If it goes away when you push the clutch in it could be the TOB.

No, the TOB only spins when the pedal is pushed in. If the noise went away when RELEASING the pedal, it could be the TOB. Did you put the clutch disc in backwards?

That's a howto for an EVO, but should be the same thing for our cars too.

A lot of people have reported his exact problem and it was the TOB.

If it messed up the shaft itself it's pretty much totalled. It's worth tearing open though to have a look. Just FYI a throwout bearing will make noise when the clutch pedal is depressed, and quiet down while the clutch is engaged. There's no way a TOB could make noise with the clutch out because it's just sitting there not doing anything.

when you put the clutch down to the floor your disengaging it making it so its not mating with the motor. so as a fyi from what he wrote it was more of a TOB just like my issue. so it would make a noise if its in neutral wit the clutch out since it would be spinnin. thats why its not good to rev your motor with clutch not disengaged since you'll wear out your tob early. - - maybe you should find me somewhere why the tob spins when clutch is in and not out. cuz i dont believe that. but ya try and get it rebuilt might be worth it.

Because when the clutch pedal is in, the release fork and TOB are pressing up against the diaphragm springs in the pressure plate, which is spinning. Therefore, the TOB spins. Every car works exactly the same way.
