Loud noise
okay so 5,000 miles after putting in my new clutch throw out bearing and pressure plate in its making a loud grinding noise at idle but when u push the clutch in it goes away. But i can also hear the noise when i start off in first gear.
Anyone have any ideas? throw out bearing? input or pilot bearing? Not enough clutch play maube i have to adjust the pedal?

i dont think its the throw out bearing cause the noise goes away when i push in the pedal but idk how u would adjust the pedal im pretty sure its self adjusting but it doesnt feel soft or anything if u push in the pedal an inch or 2 the clutch is disengaged so idk anyone?

That's a howto for an EVO, but should be the same thing for our cars too.

If it messed up the shaft itself it's pretty much totalled. It's worth tearing open though to have a look. Just FYI a throwout bearing will make noise when the clutch pedal is depressed, and quiet down while the clutch is engaged. There's no way a TOB could make noise with the clutch out because it's just sitting there not doing anything.

Because when the clutch pedal is in, the release fork and TOB are pressing up against the diaphragm springs in the pressure plate, which is spinning. Therefore, the TOB spins. Every car works exactly the same way.
