Stereo Install Problem
Hi evrybdy, I m tryin to install a panasonic mp3 stereo in my car. the plastic ring around the faceplate is little bigger than the space in dash and if i take out that ring it leaves a 2 mm gap around the stereo.
my project includes installing a rockford fosgate punch300-1 amp, sub box with 2 12" infinty speakers.
pls help i have tried searching for dash mount kits with no success .

It sounds like you have the same problem I have with my pioneer head unit.
I'm assuming that you have the correct size stereo, single din?
On my pioneer, the plastic ring that hides the gap just barley fits, and sometimes falls off when I press the buttons on the face of my stereo.
I would suggest taking off the dash piece (the one that holds the stereo and climate controls), then re-attach it with the plastic ring inside of the stereo slot.
That worked fairly well for me, but if it doesn't work for you then you can do one of three things:
1. Buy a better fitting (or just plain better, no offense) head unit (Most expensive)
2. Modify the plastic ring, either by cutting and re-gluing/plastic welding/etc..., trimming, or just using some form of adhesive on the backing of the plastic piece and clean it up. (Most difficult with potential beauty problems if done incorrectly)
3. Or, use the plastic ring from another stereo that fits better. (Most difficult to find, and time consuming as you will need to test fit.)
Hope this helps!
