small stereo problem

I have the stereo installed but the piece that goes around the stereo will not clip on. It won't clip on because the stereo sits totally flush with the dash. Has anyone else had this problem and how can I fix it. Thanks.

I have this problem, I left mine w/o the trim piece, you could cut at the piece until it fits, or just leave it. You could also possibly mount the HU further in the dash, but that would take some careful custom work

mine did that too, and i noticed that a lot of japanese cars are like that. you don't need it on there, it is just a 'trim' ring. you could also mount the headunit farther out on the brackets, but you would need to drill new holes and i think it would be a pain to line up. you'll get used to it....i didn't even notice mine anymore..............until you said something!

Here's what I did...

Get some washers for the four mount screws, and install the washers behind the bracket until the radio comes out far enough to clip the cover on. It's kinda of hard to get them on but it's worth it. Works good for me. A little hint to keep the washers together, superglue them. I used 5 of them behind each screw, but it all depends on the thickness of the washer. Also,I think I had to get a longer screw, but I don't remember...you will know if you need one to compensate. (You can get away with doing only two of the screws like this, just make sure that you use opposite corners. I.E; top left and bottom right, or vice versa.)

Thanks for all the help. I was thinking of the washer trick but haven't tried anything out yet. I wanted to get suggestions first. I am surprised more people don't ask about this. Thanks everyone.

If that is the way you did yours, how did you do it?

he moved them back a 'notch' but that would depend on what mouting holes the HU has on it. I know mine only had 1 set. You could probly drill new ones, very very carefully
