Exclamation Need Help Dash lights and tail light, passanger running light out.

i recently installed my JVC head unit into my 2003 lancer evolution 8 and i connected every wire to where they should go. The problem is i wasnt sure why there was a orange and white wire on the stereo harness and the car harness but then also a plain orange wire when i took my old head unit out the orange and white and orange wire were connected and there wasnt a orange and white wire on the old head unit to tie into the car harness so i went ahead and connected the orange wire to the orange and white one and connected it to the new head unit and it wouldnt power up. So i then figured it was a bad ground and grounded it to one of the bolts in the back and cant figure out why my dash lights boost gauge lights or tail light and running light wont work at all on my passenger side i've tried replacing all the fuses and still nothing at all. It would be greatly appreciated if somebody could help me out with this becuase i've already gotten one ticket out of this and cant continue getting more. So any help would be awesome.

i see you fixed the problem, but i figured i would chime in and let you know what that orange wire is for. typically, your orange/white wire is used for the dimmer so when you turn your lights on the lcd on the cd player dims. but you don't have to hook it up if you want it bright all the time. solid orange is the same as the orange/white wire. some ppl also hook that to the black(ground) wire. the blue/white wire would be your remote wire. and solid blue is typically for antenna
