Just purchased a Lancer 2002 ES & everything runs great. I'm moving forward and I want to upgrade a few things perhaps drop a sub box in the back. A deck is already installed, some pos pioneer so whatever I'm going to replace. That's what I thought till I ran into this setup I've never seen before It seems as if the whole dash was taking apart or this deck was installed when the vehicle was made? I have no idea, I am officially confused and cannot go any further with out some help.



As you can see rivets hold it in place...I don't understand, WHY???



Here is the top part of the chassis











4 screws total. I have no idea how this was installed or any ideas on how to get it out...Sawzall? Screwdriver & an ant to help me use it because I can't get anything in between the metal plates.

If I have to take out the whole dash chassis & all forget it lol

Drill the rivets out and everything should come out. Looks like somebody wanted a secure install.

 

Your right man It took me a few days to realize this. Gotta get those rivets out!
