just installed a sub and amp and....

is my car slower now because of the new weight in the trunk???
or because of the power consumption from the battery?

when i crank the subs, the headlights dim.. its running an MTX 500watt amp and alpine type S mids in the door panels and 12" subwoofer in the trunk..

thanks for any insight

depending on the weight of the subs and junk, your car can be slower as well as a little droopy in the rear.

ya i noticed that when i had my subs in my car and turned them up really loud my car seemed alot slower, i guess it all makes sense.

But u will prob notice a little less acceleration, but if you love your sound then its worth it right?

this whole setup weighs less than the spare tire. Its complete construction is of Fiberglass with only MDF as the SUB box TOP. also if your lights are dimming, i highly recommend a CAP.

ok cool.. well when I friend comes back from BC in a month or two perhaps i'll get him to build me a nice fiberglass box..

maybe i'll do a custom spare tire-setup cuz currently the box that's in there takes up almost the whole trunk!!

when you're your bumping your system its drawing power that the car needs. and the lights dimming its because your capicitator. if you want to go fast and race, turn off your radio.

^^ditto!

i got a 250watt amp i might hook up to the rear speakers, and get a sub/amp combo for my trunk...only prob is i only got like $150 to spend...so i might just buy a decent sub and box and hook up the 250watt amp to the sub....than change it later....not sure yet
