Bought a sub but need help .
I bought this premier pioneer sub for 20 bucks from my grandpa lol ! He has an escalade and the sub was sitting in his trunk . I don't see an amp for the sub . So does that mean I don't need an amp ?
Did the sub come stock with the suv? Because if so it most likely has an amp just slightly hidden. But as far as I know, all subs in a vehicle need an amp because that supplies it with all the power and tells it when to shut off and on and what frequencies to hit and when to hit them.

Me? I would buy a simple box for it (for the trunk). Check Craigs list.
Yes, you will need an amp. Depending on the speaker - it should say on the back 'max output' and ohm input required (tell us what it says).
Once you know what amp you need - just check CL for an amp (bridgeable or mono).
Then get an amp install kit. You could install the amp under the passenger seat (look for clearance)...
Do you have the stock radio or aftermarket?

I have an aftermarket stereo but it's terrible it was only 23.00 so when I buy the amp I will buy a new pioneer stereo .
Also couldn't I just install the amp in the trunk with the sub . What's the difference . I just would hate for someone to sit in the back seat and put their feet under passenger chair and kick the amp or something .

Chances are the amplifier that came with the truck is inadequate. It's probably also wired for just that specific premium sound system. That will almost certainly be more trouble than it's worth. If you got a sub, you've taken care about about 1/4 of the things you'll need to have a system. You don't want 1300 watts for a single sub. Think somewhere more like 300-400 rms, if the sub can even handle that much. You'll need to get a wiring kit to power the amp. That wire will need to come from the battery into the cabin, to the amp, and then speaker wires will leave the amp, and go to where the sub is. That makes the front seats pretty much the halfway point, which is why people put amps under the front seats.

Oh okay , that makes more sense now because his whole trunk is powered by bose

Oh okay , that makes more sense now because his whole car is powered by bose speakers. So one more question would this amp be okay .
