Ex Installer salesman from custom stereo shop offering help if anyone needs
I have two 12" Alpine Type R's. I was thinking about fiberglassing them into the 2 back corners to save space and then make a false floor for my amps.
Would this be a good idea? Or better to just design something like you have?

First reply is for the kickers your ideal box would be apporximately 1.25 cubic feet per chamber in a sealed box. My infinities are 1.31. I built it angled like that to reduce backwave and to optimize trunk space. as for the second one with the alpines, id say fiberglass is WAY more expencive and messy its MUCH easier to do something like i did especially if you dont have someone using REALLY good fiberglass and who knows how to use it. just make SURE to use ( liquid nails between the MDF when you put the box together and let it dry SOILD before placing the subs in the box. so NO air escapes the box and you dont want ANY fumes from ANY adhesive in the subs when playing it will deterierate (sp?) the subs when the fumes are trapped behind the sub. hope this makes sence I used liquid nils on EXERY joint then went over the inside with good hot glue. Ptex is also good for the hotglue a lil harder to find but much more rigid. hope this helps guys
one thing about the perfects is they have VERY short leads into the sub and tend to break when over excursion happens not always but ive seen a ton returned from it be SURE NOT to buy ebayd subs they wont get warrentied just a FYI. If you put them in a VERY well sealed box with NO air leaks it will prevent this from happening and theyre MONSTER subs if sealed well. as far as light the perfects are not light LOL but if you go fiber it will keep some weight down for sure. Just use good stuff with a person who knows their stuff
