i told ya guys.. again retail electronics stores have crappy stuff.
you need to go to a RESPECTABLE audio dealer.
Fosgates used to be good with their 1st model amps and their subs, but they fell off with there other crap. I dunno about jl amps..heard some good stuff..but i havent used it yet. I have 2- jl 12" w3 and memphis 600w amp w/ an eclipes pre-amp..and they thUmp0rz uR s0x0rz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
btw..you cant tell me that their (rf) subs are not crap.. they are made of cheap paper pulp.

Dunno about that RF makes louder. JLs are better for SQ.

EDIT: Not including W7

You may really like Fosgates, but if you want hard low bass I still say go with the solo-barics. If you dont care about the lowest end of bass thumping sound and want something that will produce a clarity of sound thats unbeleivable I'm gonna have to change my statement. Heard my brothers car today with a pair of 10 inch Alpine Type R and I was shocked how nice those subs are. The price of the Alpines alone makes them a better choice over the Kickers. Plus they dont require alot of the crap the solos needs. They can use a much smaller amp and dont need such a HUGE box. If I had gone with Alpines I might have actual trunk space instead of a massive vented box.

Alpine also makes Type S subs although it appears its worth the little extra to go with the Type R.

Just a little side note almost everything mentioned here so far is commercial stereo equipment. There are some VERY VERY high quality and MIND BLOWINGLY expensive competition stereo equipment out there for those people that have money to wipe with.

RF sucks.
simple.

dj audio w7's ... you only need one. it runs about 450-480$ (from an car audio store) I heard 1 of these things against 3 kickers and it blew them away.

bad part... you got to run at least a 1000 watt amp for good proformance.

Eclipse speakers are what I'm going to use for replacing my doors and back. they aren't the best or the highest price, but they are damn good for 80 each if I remember right.

I'm personally not going with the W7 for a sub... jl has the new w6 for about half price that sounds ::almost:: as good.

or the w6v2 (version 2) which is still a lot cheaper than the w7.

alpine head unit of course.
something that does xm radio.
my old car had it. (my first car was a 96 tauras... never thought I could pimp one of those) but I sold it with the car.

some might scuff at paying 10 a month for radio but it's clear and very few minutes of commercials (if any, depends on the station.)

Try out the Image Dynamics IDMax Subwoofer. $300 less than a W7 and the same level of SQL without the midbass drop suffered by the W7. Just so you know Metered the 12W7 put out 131dB at 40hz the IDMax did 130dB at 40hz.

I you want a hard hittin sub go with the JL W6's. You can't compete with them. The new JL W6 v2 are sweet and with JL speakers you hardly need a big box because they use so little air space to create a nice sounding hard hitting bump. JL is number one for subs.

i got one 12" alpine type r, and a alpine mrd-m300 amp the sound is pretty good, unfortunally, im not too much of an install buff, only one side of the sub is hooked up, and i still need to put bass blockers on my door and deck speakers.
