Allright this is for those of you who really know your audio stuff. I'm gonna list the displacement power of the TOP 12" Subwoofers.

The Solobaric Kicker L7

Total Subwoofer Displacement=105^3"(Mild)

The Rockford Fosgate Power HX2

Total Subwoofer Displacement=Claimed 224.3^3"(Bull****) Their rated Xmax is a total of 1.5" Guess some companies will say anything to sell their ****

The JL Audio W7

Total Subwoofer Displacement=192.3^3"(High)

The Eclipse Titanium
Total Subwoofer Displacement=227.76^3"(Very High)

All these subwoofer have the same RMS powerhandling basically 1000watts.

I don't know that I'd call those the TOP of the audio mountain... Yove forgotten some VERY big players. Hell, these are just the ones I can list off the top of my head.

Shocker Extreme
Beyond Audio Inhuman
Resonant Engineering XXX
Adire Audio Brahma
Image Dynamics IDMAX
Audiomobile Evo-R

Now I don't have specific displacement numbers, but I'd much rather have any one of these speakers over an L7, or an HX2

Not very likely. One 12W7 will crap on 2 L7s powered with only a 500/1.

well...everyone has different tastes. You cannot say the w7 will crap all over the L7's because the subs are ment for different purposes. The w7 is an "SqL" sub (i have one by the way) a mix between an SPL and and SQ sub. good displacement and excellent quality. The L7's are made for tight bass not the window breaking SPL output. Comparing subs is VERY hard because of the wide range of outputs they make. it all depends on what your looking for. you can have 1 15" that can hit 160 db but sounds like total crap because all it is made for is makeing lots of pressure and moving lots of air. then you can have a sub that hits like 100 db max and sounds beautiful perfect bass that hits every note. jus my $.02..............

Most definitely true. Audio like anything else is a matter of personal preference. The key to good bass is the B O X though no matter what kind you like everyting revolves around the quality of your box.
