TV Screens in Lancers?!
ok so i got a 5.6" lcd monitor on the way...just how i like it..monitor only, not the whole popout crap.
i just need suggestions where to put it...
i was thinking of putting it where the current heater/ac controls are and moving those down to the lower cubby hole maybe...or the glovebox and putting the headunit down there....or just smoothing over the glovebox and putting the TV right in front of the passenger...
anyone have pics of there tv/monitor setups??
thanks!

hmm
yeah not trying to bite but i was wondering the same thing i was going to make a custom set up and mount one into the armrest in the rear and have it sit up at an angle so my son could watch dvd's when we travel but i also wanted one in the front too but couldnt figure out where to mount it unless you make a custom dash mount cause you might not have enough space by just relocating the hvac..hope somebody else can lend a hand

i was thinking of moving the headunit down by the shifter, and the hvac to some other place, haha, see how much room i got for the TV...not sure, guess ill see in 3 days when it gets here
i was thinkin about just making a slide out tray in the upper din...but id like it to be mounted in the dash instead....

does this sound realistic...? I was thinking since I dont use my cup holders that I could relocate my climate controls down into the cup holder area and fiber glass over the area to make it sit flush. Then with the extra space gained from relocating the headunit and the climate controls, mount a lcd screen into the area that originally housed the headunit and the controls. The look I'm hoping to achieve with the lcd screen is similiar to vechiles with the gps screens molded into the dash.

yeh .. i was thinking about that too ... sounds like it would work.... maybe we can meet up and see how it may work. .. i was thinking about getting a CF sheet just the like cubby holder and put it on the cup holder.

hmmm....i gave it a good look over and I'm not sure relocating the climate controls to the cup holder area is possible (if it is possible its not going to be fun) The white backing panel that connects and controls the climate controls is much bigger than originally expected. You would need to completely cut out the cup holders and widen the hole.....and even then I'm not sure it would work.
The other problem are the cables that are connected to the climate controls. When you twist the knob for your air conditioning a little swing arm pulls on what looks like a throttle cable. Even if the control unit could be moved I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to re-route the cables.
Wouldn't moving them change the tension and positioning on them, thus making them incorrect and useless? If anyone has done this or knows how this works, please post.
