X-over question

Might be a dumb question, but hey

I've got a set of old cross-over. It says on the casing that it can't go any higher than 30 watts. Does that mean I shouldn't be using them if I'm pushing my components with 125 watts. Does it matter at all?

They're the kind that my dad used to have many, many years ago They were hooked up in a box I recently took apart. I'm at work right now, so the info I'm giving is off the top of my head.

They were made by a company that probably no longer exist Image. That's the name that's on the sub, and that name is also on the x-over case. Within that X-over, I can seperate 3 channels(low, mid, high). Each channel has it's own output.

The way it used to be setup:
Amp to XO
XO to sub
XO to mid
XO to tweeter

The amp it used to be hooked on was a very old amp. I don't even have it anymore.

Hmm...not that I know of...

I'd put some music to it, hook it up to a speaker and see...don't put it to a tweeter tho

blaze, I have a signal generator somewhere here, if you'd like to borrow it, it can generate sine and square waves at various frequencies.. you can also connect a scope on your xover output to see how the signal goes down as freq goes up.. I probably have an old 500kHz scope here that'd be perfect for checking audio stuff.. (actually, if I can't find it, I can borrow one from a friend who got one at the same time I did.. not sure I kept mine after moving 3 times in 2 years..)

fluke

PS: I have some audio stuff I'd like to play with too, I'll show you next time we meet
