How are you able to advance timing as much as that and still run 89 octane?

Are you sure there will be no disadvantages to the new PB on the 02-03 since the 04-up have a returnless fuel system that you used to use for the vacuum connection?

The more radically advanced timing happens at lower rpms... resulting in a better pickup but no detonation/issues do the the tapering as rpms rise. The lighter load in lower rpms doesn't build the heat as much as at higher rpms/loads.

As for the 02-03 RRM actually was going to use this method with the first piggyback... however RRM wanted to keep the piggyback adaptable for turbo applications. Doing this proved to not have as good of gains... also a lot of people didn't use them on turbo applications since only the stage2 setup uses it.

This should be on the site soon. Thanks, Boe for answering the tech questions.

2 is better for N/A for sure. Header and piggy will be a good combo.

Ralliart is already on that style... that's why it does so well and the reason RRM decided to do it for the NA Lancer's as well.

Last question...

Were you able to tune out the slight bog in shifting at WOT?
I guess question should be if you even felt it in the old piggy to know what others were experiencing...

what about the older split second boxes.....I know its already been stated that the original boxes can't be remapped but are these still the ones that will be used for stage 2 setups?

Reason I ask is I'm thinking of getting the new one for the time being to save on gas, but holding on to my old one and getting it remapped for stage 2 when I eventually have teh money for a turbo. Plus it'd make sense to hold on to the old one since the resale value of these just died with the release of this version.

Totally gone... RRM heard of this issue and never seemed to be able to prove it existed. Several customers stated it did however. Thus when RRM tested the box via our Canadian helpers they gave them 3 different boxes. Each with the same map/settings. The boxes were swapped each week until the last box was tested. We even informed them off all customer complaints noted on the previous version. They experienced nothing of the sort. In fact they said the throttle response was so vastly improved that they purchased a box to keep on the car... to quote them "The car wasn't the same without the box... felt like as@ when back to stock!"

I loved the version 1 box... never had any issues with it on FI or NA applications. I've worked with it alot even on custom setups. In a few weeks i'm using one to tune an custom SC guy. That box is still a great product but the car responded better to the new version. So much better that RRM replaced the older version with this one entirely. The older version box will now only be for stage 2 turbo or custom setups.

As far as resale value dying... i won't say that. They will be used on stage 2 setups and some custom guys are begging for them in order to tune the turbo or custom SC stuff.

I've even used them to tune turbo stage 1 guys that wanted a custom stage 2 like setup or that had RPW cams.
