RRM Piggyback Help

I have just gotten my new v.2 rrm piggyback for my 02 auto OZ installed 2 days ago all put in according to the instructions. im having a problem with my check engine light comming on and dispalying the code for "random misfire" and the engine badly misfires from idel which is about 750 rpm's to 1800 or 2000 rpm's and i cant get it to stop it. does anyone have this problem? or found a way to solve the problem? the help would be greatly appreciated.

wow this forum is on an upswing, a short time ago the flame throwers would be hissing right now . . . *eyes tear up* Im so proud of you guys!! >=) Short answer, the 02-03 have an issue with rough idle and midfire codes with the Ver. 2 piggy. Call RRM and see if they can help you tune it a bit to smooth it out. Overall its not a big deal.

My car will misfire also if i raise the idle with the piggyback installed, its idling at about 600 in drive and that seems to be where it wants to be. The CEL light is no big deal and cant really be avioded if you get it. RRM reprogramed mine for less rough of an idle and nows it runs fine and there is a little rough idle everyonce in a while and the rpms dip but that is expected when you tamper with the ecu. You have to be willing to live with that if you want the power. The software will let you adjust the piggy to how you want it to run, whether it be a smoother idle or more power.

ok fellas, after 6 months....i finally did a performance up grade to my car!!!!! i know, 6 months seems like a long time but kept putting it off, i just lowered it on tein springs. Now i'm wondering if i should buy the piggy back first....or do minor bolt ons like intake, exhaust first, then install the piggy back second. Is there a difference in power gain either way i do it?

thanks for the help but i mean the rough idel is no big deal but i was just wondering if it was possible to fix it. With the software for the computer can you adjust the ignition timing or is it just fuel maps, ect.?? But i did gain alot of power thought the powerband, a great ecu.

From what ive been told the piggy will simply improve upon what you already have. When i asked rock the same question about what to get first he told me to at least have I/H/E done before the piggy.

I havent had the chance to use the software yet so not too sure what you can and cant do with it, I am going to be doing so in a few days but it is possible to change the rough idle so it idles smoother, i mean it will not be perfect but quite a bit better. If you want a smoother idle you are going to have to be willing to sacrafice some power in order to do so. Talk to Boe about programing, he is helping me to create a seperate program on the piggy so i can have more power and live with a rougher idle.
