Upgrading stock injectors on N/A

Hey guys, been searching and haven't found anything since 2006 on anyone with a N/A doing anything with stock injectors, and most of those posts were just to find out what the stock size was (235-240cc were what I saw).

I'm wondering if upping the fuel deliver to 250cc would have any noticeable effect on a slighly modified N/A 4g94 (cai, ported head, 4g93 cam) or if i should just stay with the stock size? Should I go for it just for $hits and giggles? I'm assuming we need high impedance injectors for the 2003? http://cgi.ebay.com/Subaru-Honda-Toyota-250cc-Fuel-Injector-High-Impedance-/270586823829?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessor ies&hash=item3f003b4495

Thanks for the input. Def don't plan on turboing this car, just want to play with bolt-on horsepower a bit, and then focus on dressing it up to ***** around town with:-p

Have you reached the limit of the stock injectors?

What are you IDCs?

+1^^ First off without using ecuflash to scale any different injector you put into the car it will not run right with anything other than stock. So since you will need the tactrix cable anyways you can log to see where your IDCs are, you may not be any where near maxing them out and it will be pointless to install bigger injectors unless your running out of injector now.

What these guys have said ^^^.

Installing larger injectors will do nothing for you, unless you are over-exerting your stockers. Unless you have a wildly built N/A, you probably aren't as Mitsubishi has some overhead safety build into the stock injectors.

Now, if you wanted to try E85, you would probably need to upgrade the injectors...though you aren't going to see the gains the FI guys are seeing with the ethanol fuels.

Ah, good info. I'm looking to get a Tactrix, but haven't found one yet...as ours are the older ones, and the newer ones don't work from what I hear. Any links to one would be great.

I was just wondering because I was throwing a lean code a couple days ago, that I've gotten to clear with replacing the o2 sensor, but I also read that this code would be from the injectors being clogged/malfunctioning...so I thought why not get new ones, I figure after 150k on the car it couldn't hurt... And then I saw the different sizes and started wondering if larger injectors on a stock fuel rail would do anything I would like, or if I should upgrade the fuel rail, or both...

Didn't realize I'd have to adjust values significantly without being turbo or going wild with the injectors. So 10cc is really that dramatic of a change? This is my first time messing with a fuel injected setup, I've been a carb man with detroit muscle, so I'm used to dumping more fuel into the engine with modified heads/etc.

Also, as a newb to ECUflash, what is IDC, is that a value column in the program that I'm looking for? I have a laptop ready to go with the program, just need a cable. It's just as expensive as buying a code reader, so I figured why not (since I already had the laptop).

THanks for the help, guys.

IDC is Injector Duty Cycle, in the logging software is is a loggable parameter you can check, and logging will give you your IDC % or the percentage of your injectors 240cc capacity is using. 10cc is not a big jump but it will still throw off your fuel trims, plus if your going to upgrade then why only 10?

Well, we have a forum special for the EvoM guys, $19/injector for cleaning and new seals, plus you'll get a flow report and free shipping back to you.

I figured it wouldn't be that big of a difference off of stock to mess up anything, while maybe giving enough extra spray to pad a few horsepower *shrugs*. I know you turbo guys are getting into the 300+ or 400+ injectors, I thought staying below 300 would be fine for N/A mods. Didn't realize how sensitive the system was to the size of the injectors.

I'll repost in here once i get a tactrix and we'll have some fun from there

+1 for the injector cleaning, if it wasn't my daily driver I'd be all over it

I'm running 232cc/min>>> this is via ecuflash.

It also has values for voltage latency, high octane map, and low octane map. Since I have another 8cc or so to play with... any recommendations on what to edit to trim fuel economy? Also, would running a full 240cc do anything useful?
