ECUflash/ Tactrix cable newb thread
Download a program called "7-zip." It's a free archive utility that works great for ZIP files. Install it and you'll have the option to unzip the file. I usually do a right-click > 7-Zip > Extract to [filename]/ ... that makes a new folder and puts the unzipped files in there.
Download 7-zip: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html, like TouringBubble stated. Better to use that than the built-in archive utility in Windows.

The "." in the filename is causing issues. Rename it to something like "definitions.zip" and try again.
EDIT :: Or, just "definitions" since it looks like you've got file extensions hidden.

Succesfull yea?? If so now i know how to do it so when i go home i can do it on my laptop and see if i can then open my ROM! I opened them up to see if i could find the one for a 2002 lancer oz auto, and its 88560021, is that my ROM id number? Now when i go home and download the def files to the ecufolder like you showed me how to do on this computer, once the all these deffinition files are in the ecuflash folder and i change the directory for the medadata to : C:/Program Files/OpenECU/EcuFlash/rommetadata/mitsubishi/lancer and i go to open my saved ecu image as "stockECU.hex" it should open up automatically? or do i have to use the number "88560021" somewhere?

it should automatically open. It has a field in the rom that says "i'm xxxxxxxx" or whatever, and uses the matching definition file. It will also use more default files too, like lancerbase.xml or whatever. I ran into a problem with the evo rom i was using, where there were some inherited xmls that didn't really match up right. Just a note of caution, keep as few xml files in there that you can which aren't 8 number files...like, don't keep a bunch generic ones listed, lol....i ramble sometimes

did you watch the ecuflash tutorial videos? they are pretty helpful as far as walking your through like, everything involved.
as far as the problem with the column values, there is probably something wrong in one of those definition files. Each of those files says "this item" is located at "this location" with "these settings", so if part of that lil fake statement i just made is incorrect, it'll lookup the values in the wrong spot or wrong scaling. click one of those boxes, and select the edit menu thing, and say edit definitions or whatever, at the very bottom of the menu, and take a screenshot of the scalings.
