RRM Piggyback Tuning?

Has anyone messed with the tuning software that camen with the piggyback tuner? I was reading the basic stuff online this morning, I'm going to read the manual this week to see if I can figure it out.

Just wondering if anyone here has messed with it?

I was too stupid to mess around with the settings. I don't think there's much left to be gained compared to how it comes.

Hi guys,

Doesnt want to open a new thread so I'll ask up here. I'm driving an AT 4G94 2005 Lancer with RRM piggyback v2 installed. I wanna change to Lancer CVT 2009 with 4B11 so not sure if the piggyback can be hooked in directly (ofcourse with new map). Thing is I'm living in Asia and te piggyback was bought during my trip in USA last year and I'm sure my next trip wont be that immediate. And there's no secondhand market here for stuff like this.

Thanks for the help in advance

well the pretune that comes with piggyback leans the AFR basically what means that your lancers should be slightly less fuel consuming (it will not be noticible when soft driving however sińce the mods to fuel curves are only at engine pretty high load and revs) The performance is only very slightly improved at the same time. Of course it does not come at no expense...the more lean the AFR is the higher temperetures gets during combustion and more likely missfire can occure. Basically the engine works at more stressing conditions and also it may kill cat or o2 sensor sooner. However if you don't have a CAI or SRI on your car, the mods are rather safe and your car will be ok. But if you have CAI, SRI at certain load and revs the engine will get quite more oxygen and obvoisly the AFR will get seriosly high, what will expose your engines at runing at very high temperatures and also exhausts will be too hot. This will not give any performance gains too (can even retard perf. by few hp like in case of my gts) but will put your engines at quite extreeme working conditions. I,m not saying that piggy is a bad Upgrade, but everyone with SRI or CAI should really chęci check AFR after installation and adjust fuel curves by adding more fuel (the values to add will be quite some, but not big enought to drain your wallets or significantly increase fuel consumption ). By doing so you will not only be keep your engines runnig safe but also only than will be able to get some noticable performance gain by possibly up to 10 hp. just to ilustrate it in numbers your n/a cars should have AFR between 12.5 (even 12+) and 13 (everything over 15 is bad and should be corrected asap). I bet guys with pretuned piggybacks and moded intakes will at high load and revs have it even above 15 or even 16 what is bad for your cars and doesn,t improve performance...generally rrm piggy is a cool mod but if you make proper use of it and set proper afr for your car and mods. Just think how come an engine getting extra air from moded i take use less fuel without at no cost? The cost is as i described lean mixture what results in too hight temps and puts engine and few other parts to its very limit wearing it faster.

Well, I'm going to say that for a $300+ instant quote for an RRM piggyback, you're better off going OpenSource through RalliNspired or RPW. Just my $0.02

in my Case headers gave me extra 1,5 hp. Because I have a full free access to 2 different prof. dynos, AFR sensor and a lot of other tuning equippment i had a chance to Play with and test every single upgrade i got...sometimes i come to very annoying conslusions. I had some concerns regarding some RRM Solutions, but overall my opinion on them i positive...i had to do lot of adjustments to their piggy pretune, however after all their mods gave my 2008 lancer extra 20 HP what is really rade and very much for an n/a car - i didn,t have turbo or moded exhaust after headers...the biggest concern i had to the piggy pretune - in my Case with SRI installed It decreased performance and caused bad and seriosly life-limiting conditions for Engine only to save Little and unnoticible amounts of fuel.....if they had It corrected It would be fair towards customers and i could not say abything bad about them...rest is OK. Concerning headers Im sure It is a good Upgrade, but only along with other serious mods. Otherwise you Will not make use of itz potential and not Get any even slighgly noticable performance improvement. All these People claiming that them feel the power after some of these mods, not even verifying aby of them on dyno or any other way could be interesting subject for pshylogy study on self-manipulation. Again...the mods are effective, but only if you know How to make use of them and understand How everything works and what effect have them on each other....i git n imresion that majority of users here have no clue or basic understending of How Simple and basic car elements and parts work and what they do...

Here is an example...SRI, light whell..., and exhaust...only effect is loud noise what .akes you thing your fasty - bud did anyone concidered that moded intake and exhaust (by the way is It a catback Or an axle back? ) deliver amount more oxygen to the Engine At high load and revs when ecu Will not be able to adjust fuel amount to keep safe Engine working conditions and not add aby performance...SRI, headers, well designed axle back with sport cat can make differance, but its obvious that fuel curves must be adjusted....
