why wouldn't 02-03 roms work? is it a different ECU? you have a 4g94 right? not a 4g69, those are ralliarts I thought.

Preamble sounds like the flashing method is incorrect. See if your xml has mitsukernelocp or not in it.

The 06 rom isn't defined but the big maps (for the automatic) work on my MT lancer. I'm pretty sure he needs the "ocp" in the flash method but can't remember. His rom will throw a CEL for the transmission though.

Yea i flashed my old a/t rom into my mt...i guess the big map was made for a/ts only...i wish there was one identical for the mt because now my check engine is always on because of the a/t transmission seansors

Then disable the sensor checking algorythm.

All circuit test bypass will do this.

I know this thread is old, but if anyone else with an 06 happens to come across it I was just wondering out of curiosity what rom in the end u flashed to? I saw a pic of a dyno sheet in ur pics, marcouxa, that makes it look like you def figured it all out.

Nice. If you search on here there is so much info for flashing evo roms to the 02-03 models but flashing the evo9 roms to the newer ones just isn't documented quite as much. Even in some how-to threads it says will not work for 05-06 models. Its nice to see that ppl are out there having the same success with these ones too. Did you use a tephra based rom?

Yes it's an evo 9 tephra...i don't think u can flash the evo 8 rom in the 04-06 though if i remember right because of the rom size and vice versa.

Yeah Im pretty sure your right cuz the KB's are different I've noticed. So to use the evo9 tephra rom do u have to disable the mivec? I know I read somewhere on here somebody was messing with that I just can't remember where. I'm not currently running an evo rom and have been reading tons of old threads with the 02-03 models in which ppl have been very successful but there just isn't as much stuff with the 04-06 models. I was just wondering if they're weren't as many "hurdles" as ppl first thought and is it was just as easy as the evo8 rom to the 02-03 models?

Yes its a huge upgrade from the big map if thats what you're currently running! Its alot smoother and will not throw random a/t dtcs and to answer your question about the mivec, yes everything is set at 0 in the mivec setting.

So just to be sure, even though I have been doing a lot of reading I still don't feel like I am knowledgeable on this subject, if I was interested in flashing to an evo9 rom it doesn't matter what the rom id is right? Just as long as I use a tephra rom for a 9 and not an 8 right? And if I wanted to go speed density should I do it right off the bat or try and do all my scalings with maf to get it to run ok and then switch? It just seems like all the stuff the stuff I have had to do to get to this point has been a lil trickier than the 02-03's so I just wanna make sure I don't do something dumb and brick my ecu or something.

...or if there is a good thread or section of thread that anyone is familiar with that goes over the evo9 flash plz let me know. Some of these threads are soo long I just haven't been able to read every single word. Not yet at least but working on it.
