RRM piggyback plus cams?

does anyone know if it's a good idea to mix the road race piggyback with aftermarket camshafts? not sure if it would mess up the fuel timing or any stuff i don't know about. Still trying to think if i wanna play with the internals or just keep the mods simple. thanks guys.

if i remember correctly, this was discussed recently. the person that brought it up had both an rpw cam and the rrm pb. he was complaining that he was slower and that was bc of the lack of tuning for teh cam. you need to tune timing with the cam and the rrm pb only adjusts fuel and not timing, so it wouldnt work as is from rrm, but i do believe that you can order a device to control timing from www.splitsec.com, but it may just be better to not get the rrm pb and the extra timing control and jsut get a greddy emanage since it can control both.

in order to tune the eManage (can be had for around $350) you'll need the timing harness (add about $100) and the support tool (add between $40 and $140 depending on your source) Also, you'll need a laptop or a REALLY long support tool cable to get readings/make adjustments. But you can tune whenever and for whatever conditions you happend to need to tune for.
This is the direction I went and haven't looked back. Should I decide to change something, I can tune for it immediately and am not at the mercy of the piggy's tune. However, if you're just kicking around the idea of adding cams but don't really think you'll do it- or if you're not interested in taking the time to learn to tune the eManage, and then take the time to do the tuning- the piggy seems like a good direction to go.

The RRM piggy can't do anything relating to the new cam. All you'll do is unlock more fuel with the cam that will go through unburned.

just how hard is it to tune the emanage? i know we aren't talking about a push button thats labeled "go faster!" or anything that simple, but with a little research would it be doable even for a noobie?

ah ok, thanks guys.

engineerboy - your prolly right, i prolly wouldn't have the patience for all that stuff, once i get the car paid off i might start with that stuff but i'll more than likely just stick to bolt ons and less complicated things for the moment.

i appreciate all the insight guys, thanks again.

At the very least I'd go with an a/f gauge and an egt gauge to monitor if your car is running rich or lean. Then you'll need a laptop and a buddy to help you while you're tuning it. You'll need to go through the entire powerband to watch the stock map, make changes, and monitor your gauge(s) to see how you're doing.

I thought of doing it myself and I still may, but I've since found a reasonable place to have my car dyno tuned so I'm gonna let the shop do it with a wideband o2 sensor.
