RPW cam shaft and cam gear question

Guys...If I get these, do I have to replace my valve springs too? BTW cost on these together is around 500. If I need to upgrade springs that would run another 1-150 I'm guessing...

David Thomas would know better. It's his cam shaft.

It's like midnight in Australia right now though so be patient on a reply. My gut feeling is no, but that's really not much of an answer. I dunno what you plan on doing with that extra cam and gear though.

Were those originally intended for the mirage? I dont know if it was ever clarified if the mirage internals would swap.

He makes them for the Lancer...I've asked and gotten pricing...Shaft and Gear and grinded to give engine more power and def. more torque....ask RPW specifically if you want to know all benefits of upgrading these parts.

you don't need a new computer when you change cams. just an air/fuel contoller of some sort since you'll be adding well..more air and fuel.

W/ Stage 1 cam, you don't need to replace valve springs.

W/ stage 2 and above, you'll need new springs, because stock can't handle the high lifts. In the long run, the springs will be spongy and float. It's a bad thing.

ZL is correct.

According to the websites RPW and Vision you wouldn't need an ecu upgrade for a stage 1 cam.

http://www.visionimports.com/Performance_Packages.html

I'd wait to hear more from Mitsiman however as I am no expert.

Well BAHAMUT got to it before I did. sorry for repost

If I remember RPW's comments, the cams are essentially the same and will be using the same Stage 1 timing off the 1.8L so pretty much, you'd be ready to rock immediately.

That is all correct. With the stage 1 cams no fuel / ecu / valve spring mods are needed.

With stage 2 springs and fuel mods needed and so up it goes.

Yes the 2.0 Lancer runs variations of the 1.8 mirage grinds where for example (Not accurate here too lazy to go check the other computer) a stage 2 mirage grinds is teh same as a stage 1 2.0 lancer grinds or something like that anyway.

And before you ask no there would be no benefit to putting a 2.0 cam in a 1.8 mirage as the lifts and durations are all wrong for it.

Would Stage 2 see a lumpy idle in daily driving and how many degrees is it possible to advance the camshaft or is that a car to car/mod to mod basis?
