We can get our computer chip upgraded now

heres an email i received from Jet Performance

Yes, Jet can upgrade your 2002 Lancer ECU (computer) and gain the vehicle 12-14 more horsepower at the wheels (stock vehicle), with mods the gain may only be 8-10 more hp, but the fuel and timing curves will be corrected to accommodate the modifications you have made.

thank you,
donnie @ Jet

Intresting, did they give you a phone number? If they are not bull****ting you, it might be worth looking into.

sounds good, but don't you have to have other mods(turbo, etc) for a chip to really give that much of a gain? I mean i'm really not sure (about chip), but I'm pretty sure it's already been discussed here somewhere............

with a chip you are pretty much switching to premium gas...so really 10hp stock is reasonable for running 92 octane.

Just went to Jet Performance's website. The V-Force Power Control Module looks intresting, but I wonder if it works like they say it does and also how easy is it to install?

12-14 WHP? Hm...would never have guessed the stock ECU ran THAT conservatively. Seen a 'rage guy with the V-Force and he's got hardly noticeable gains and that was with our (almost) clone of the 1.8L engine.

Blah. Something had to come up.

However, they can't just sell you a product that doesn't perform like they claim. That's in the realm of fraud right there. Let's give them a chance to prove (or disprove) the product before we turn our backs on them.

Don't bother with a Jet chip if you ever plan on going past bolt-on mods. You could realize similar gains with an S-AFC or other fuel computer, which you'd probably need to buy anyways if you go for big power.

Good to see some support though.

Don't believe what Jet tells you. Find someone who has done before and after dynos, or do them yourself. That's crap that you can't return it if it doesn't show gains.
