Intake Mod and Engine Photo *Comments Wanted*

Hi guys. Well, I've seen lots of people that have used their stock intake "scoop" (as I call it) to feed cold outside air to their cone filter. I put my scoop back on and fed some cold air from a Cyclone fan into it and it's feeding cold air into the cone! I was happy to achieve this, but I'm not sure how driving at different speeds affects the air flow and temp. Also, I turned my RRM carbon heat shield on it's side to help with the heat shielding process... I'd like some comments on my little design here.

I also did a DIY grounding kit, and here is a shot of my new engine bay!

Thanks a lot for any comments and suggestions!!!!

Daniel

Oh sorry I meant, I had just the filter before, but I put the stock intake scoop back on... presumably to feed cold air, I was wondering if anyone could back up my theory.

Should work. I had a filter with no scoop, and I could feel it choking for air. Sadly, I sold my stock intake, so I didn't have the scoop to put back on.

Good job of DIY.

Thanks alot man! I do feel a little bit more pull and noise, but that also might be the mod placebo effect lol.

Well it can only help that you get more air flowing in by using the air dam. And as for turning the heatshield so it's in the way of the block, that's the first time I've ever seen the heatshield actually look useful! Props on the modified design. It may not even give you 2-3 hp, but at the very least your intake is as efficient as it can be.

Thanks for the comment! The intake scoop moved a bit while I rev, so I zip-tied it down lol it works much better now.

For anyone doing this with an RRM heat shield you *MAY* have to cut a small peice off to fit.

Thanks for the props gentlemen

Ok, so I found the gains to be minimal (make that nonexistant), and my uncle and I are brainstorming ideas. I was wondering if a peice of "flexpipe" could run up to the filter to provide cold air... Has anyone tried this????

Thanks alot bud! But I wouldn't be relocating my battery. My funnel would be exactly where his hole in his heat shield is. BTW guys, do you think putting the filter down in the bumper (secured of course), then attaching to the flexpipe and attaching the flexpipe to the MAF would be good? Like

Filter to flexpipe to MAS adapter to MAF? Is that how it goes?

Would that be like a ghetto cold air or what lol!
