Making the exhaust decision

I've been reading a lot of different forums online and trying to research catback exhausts for my 2003 Lancer ES, but i keep getting mixed results. Can anyone help me decide on which to get through their experience with the different systems, good or bad. I'm tryin to find out not just performance and airflow but sound also. The ones that I have seen for my car are the Magnaflow SS, Greddy Evo series version 2, Buscher Racing catback, and JIC Spartan DE Type 1 Sus. These are the only ones I've seen besides custom ones, but if anyone has any info. on these or any other it would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

I have the greddy evo series 2 on my 02 es and it's awesome. Really low, deep sound and not that loud. I was reluctant to get exhaust on my lancer because i wasn't sure how it would sound. I was worried when i saw it in person because the muffler is huge compared to some but it sounds really good. It was definately worth it.

I think it all comes down to preference in terms of looks and sound, as well as your wallet size. The magnaflow is the cheapest option and has a nice low tone, but it doesn't have that japanese can look that some people like. The Greddy is very popular and not too expensive. Not sure about the Buscher, I think its a 2.5 catback rather than the standard 2.25. The JIC is a nice exhaust but will be very expensive.

I have the buschur catback .. am very happy with it. Deep tone, not too loud .. not fart-can sounding ... bolts on with ease. It has a dynomax muffler .. the tip looks just bigger than what a stock exhaust would (doesnt bring unneeded attention to itself) and the power gains IMHO are definately worth the money. 2.5" seems to be ideal if you ever want to go turbo .. and the buschur exhaust has been dyno'd so you know the gains you are getting.

I think all the exhausts available are good kits. I probably would have gotten the buschur because of price but i got the greddy for $300 from someone who wrecked their oz.

yea i really don't want the ricer sound, and i like the look of the greddy on the car because it looks like it fits perfectly in the cut out on the rear bumber, but neither the greddy or the buscher have a ricer sound right? and also, is there anyone out there who knows anything about the JIC, it seems that almost no one has it, as of now my choices are between the greddy and the buscher unless somebody can give me info. on the JIC

the greddy has a really good low tone to it.. i put it on myself and everything bolts right up and the exhaust tip fits in the cutout on the rear bumper perfectly.

looks like he got out the question before I could. But could FlLancer and digdat post some pix of what it looks like in the rear? I wanna keep my outside look as stock as I can while the engine a monster. Sound is also a VERY big part in my selection, like him I dont wanna sound like a weed wacker on wheels. or a 4 wheeled dirt bike

This is what I want for my '04 ES. GReddy's website says the Evo 2 exhaust works for the 02-03 Lancer, but nothing about th 04. I assume that since both the 02 and 04 use the same engine it should work.

Uh, I think the 02-03 and the 04 have slightly different exhaust portions, same engine but exhaust is different. Best to just wait till they actually make one for the 04 lancer.

I'm thinking that as well. I sent GReddy an email asking if they plan to release more products for the 04 Lancer but I get the impression the only Mitsubishi they care about is the Eclipse.
