idle problem than dies...
Hey, ok i fixed the starting problem but now my car idles low and than dies. this is due to the air/fuel mixture. my car is dumping to much fuel causing it to run rich and die out. Boeturbo i did the compression that was fine. i just swaped out the plugs for new ones. What can i do to fix this problem. I called up Ripp and **** they have been so busy and there schedule is filled for the next couple of weeks. so i do not have the patience for them to do it. i need this car i drive it daily. something i can do? i went to a normal mechanic. someone i kno and they could not do anything because of the sds. they do not have the tools to do it. something i can dothx
My car used to have really low idle if I turn the a/c on, high beams, etc. There is a screw you can mess with on the throttle body. It's under this rubber cap, anyway, turn it left few times to increase your idle RPM point. Don't know if that is going to help but it helped me :P
Your fuel pressure regulator is probably set at around 50 psi at idle, lower it about 10-15 psi and see if that helps. Watch your air fuel guage when driving to make sure you don't go lean. Even try going a little lower with the pressure if that doesn't work. Do you still have your 310 injectors, they'll be an hour swap and definatly solve your issue.
He's running Ripp's black box, 440 cc injectors, 255lph walboro, and fpr. Yes he's venting to atmosphere, but the BOV is before the MAS. I have the same setup (except I have 310's) with no issues. The problem definately lies in the injectors, unless its a overlook like a disconnected pipe after the MAS.

so how can i lower the psi from my fuel pressure. i'm not mechanicly good but with some instructions i can do it. i wanna learn this **** anyways. thx
Your base fuel pressure does seem high... I think mine is 38 psi at idle and even then, I have piggybacks leaning that out with 460cc injectors. What type of FPR do you have? Is it one like an Aeromotive / SX / Paxton styled one, or is it like the AEM FPRs? Let me know and I can try to tell you how to lower your fuel pressure.
Your old plugs that you swapped out, were they all black when you took them out? How were your EGTs when it was running? Do you smell unburned fuel out the exhaust? Not too familiar with RIPP's piggybacks....
Just to make sure, like fkrzo said, you are sure iot is not an oversight?

my old plugs were black with fuel on them. My FPR is Malpassi Rising rate fuel pressure regulator with gauge.. thats what it says on the RIPP site. um about egt i don't have the guage. idk.
To adjust our regulator, unscrew the little brass cap nut, loosen the lower nut (locknut), and turn the center screw with a flathead. You have to have the car running, its very simple, especially with the guage right on the regulator. I beleive counterclockwise lowers the pressure. after its set to where you like it, snug the locknut, and put the capnut back on. I'm in westchester (1/2 hour from Manhatten), So if you PM me, maybe I can help you out on Sat.
