Some Throttle Body Questions

Ok I did some searching and reading but I still have some questions. According to RRM's site the throttle body gets bored out to 65mm which means stock would be like what 60mm?

Also, if I end up taking my throttle body to a shop(who already said they can do it) I need to supply the butterfly plate. Where can I buy a larger butterfly plate at? and how much would it run me?

Finally, if I went to the shop it would be $100 bucks to bore it out, whatever the cost the butterfly plate will run me and like a week without a car. Is it worth it or just order from RRM and I won't have to go without a car?

Also this site sells Throttle Bodies:

http://www.proflowdesign.com/throttlebodies.html

Any would be great. Thanks

Stock TB is 52mm like the modern 3g eclipse, except their throttle cable faces the firewall. Also, I think there is a typo or misreading that the IM can take 65mm worth of bore. A G93 IM can barely take 60mm worth of bore . . . one mistake can punch a hole through its casting.

As for a butterfly plate, you'll have to ask them where to get it. Or go to Mitsu parts department for one on a 92-94 DSM turbo or NA G63.

Not saying you are wrong or anything but here is what RRM's site says:

Road Race Lancer Bored Throttle Body

This throttle body is bored 5 mm over stock size and increases air flow significantly into your engine. Furthermore, it is fluted out to 65mm in order speed up air and conpress it making for better performance! Won't void warranty! We send you ours first, then you send us yours. Expect increased throttle response as well as HP increase. Call for details on core exchange policy on this part.

289.00

So I guess what I'm trying to find out is:

What is the size of our(03) stock Throttle Body?
How big can I get the Throttle Body Bored out at? so incase I take it to a shop.
Is it worth it to take to a shop or just order from RRM?

It says the TB is bore out 5mm over stock. Bahamut is right, the stocker for the Lancer is 52mm... RRM says they flute it to 65mm to aid air velocity and waht not... what this means, I have no idea.

I guess I just read it wrong. My Bad. Once it gets bored out then it'll be 57mm. So where can I buy an aftermarket 57mm butterfly valve at?

Maybe it's just easier to order from RRM or from proflowdesign who has it for $175 instead of going through the trouble of doing it myself.

or if you feel up to it, get a 60MM DSM throttle body 1g 92+ for like $60 and make it work, it will bolt up, but you may have to splice some wiring and what not, which rhyzin is trying to work out right now...if you want to be sure the get RRM, at least you know about the quality

If you look at the TB you'll notice it has a cone shape to it. The fluting is at the part that connects to the airbox/filter. The internal section- the throttle plate area- is milled out +5 mm.... much more and you'll be milling through the side of the TB.

What do you think about proflowdesign.com? They sell TB for $175. I believe they do the same thing as RRM...Order part, receive part, install part, sent back stock part, then you get your core charge back. Plus proflowdesign is like 100 bucks cheaper than RRM. Or just stick with RRM?

As I'm I and I can get it bored out for $100 bucks but then I need to buy a butterfly plate and be without a car for about a week. Also proflowdesigns.com has them for $175. Still cheaper than RRM.

Since I haven't been to the 3g eclipse guys' site for a very long time, you might want to ask them about the 57mm butterfly plate. or at least search within their site.

Warning: don't tell them what your car is . . . some maybe arrogant, because you have a different car.
