AEM COLD AIR INTAKEw/Pictures

Damn this thing is sweet. Purchased at Adventon for $217(Super Cheap) shipped to my door took exactly 7 days for ground delivery and recieved in perfect condtion. This thing rides nicely gets a ram-air effect from the bumper by removing the fake plastic grille.

Whoa. That is just gorgeous. Great pics 2wdSQL. I would worry a bit about driving in heavy rain with the fake grills removed though. Maybe that's just me, but when it rains here in Florida... it gets REALLY wet.

I know this has probably been asked before somewhere but since you just did the install does is look like the filter is in a place free from dirt?

It looks like it is inside the bumper and is protected by the lower lip from the road. I want to make sure because I am seriously thinking about this as my next step but I want to make sure since I do a lot of driving.

Just drove in heavy rain tonight. No it doesn't suck up water; if you're concerned about that get a bypass valve. It doesn't take any excessive amounts of dirt either unless you were to drive on a dirt road behind another vehicle at high speeds; in which case, I recommend just cleaning your filter afterwards if you were racing or just more frequently if just driving daily on dirt roads. Yes the filter is in a protected location the dirt shield completely covers it; only the side by the lower piping is exposed I tried to take a picture of this but its impossible.

u dont need a bypass valve. i had one cuz i was scared but its a waste of money. i drove alot with my injen cai( aem is basically the same thing) in the rain and actually kinda soaked it once w/o the by pass valve and nuttin was wrong. the filter has this oil around it to keep the water from getting in. your good if you dont submerge the whole thing in water and drive.

Bypass Valve

Ok people I have the AEM cold air intake, I live in Minnesota, the land of slush and snow. I have no bypass valve, I blast through snow and the dirtiest slush you have ever seen. My filter is spotless. But I did not remove that fake grill thing either because I have a foglamp mounted in it. If you ask me that is asking for trouble. But if you put it in like AEM says there are plenty of splash shields and it is far enough up from the ground to handle MN weather with out the bypass so it should be good to go anywhere.
