CEL light code 0421
yes your car should be fine, since you dont have headers just reset the ecu and it could possibly stay off. dont waste your time continually resetting it unless you are getting emissions done.
Get an O2 simulator from summit racing, or turn your car around to get the O2 bung behind the second cat. You'll have to extend the wires if you do this, but either way will work.
^^^yes that does work. i just got my safc2 and have been messing with it and have tuned and since doing so my light went off
. on top of that, you can also get some performance gains if tuned well, i think that it was worth every cent.
I am throwing code 421 also. I have reset my ecu and I checked it after driving 200 miles, no cel. But the code comes up 421 and mil (malfunction indicator light) is pending. I am in New York, if I reset my ecu I have to drive a certain number of miles or when i take it in for inspection they will know that I reset the computer. Can anyone help me? I guess, what I am looking for is the second o2 sensor. I know where the first o2 sensor is right behind the radiator on the exhaust manifold. Is the second o2 sensor easy to get to? I am newbie so if I am asking something that has all ready been asked... sorry. I have been searching for the right answer.
By the way I drive a 2002 Lancer ES

2 18mm atnifoulers is the best fix. THis is what I use. No CEL after 10k miles... no wiring, no resistores, just a little bit of alluminum :-) PM me if you need further info.

P0421 can occur for different reasons
1. Mitsu lack of pickyness when they first programmed the Ecu
2. No cat in the exhaust manifold
The recall applies to situation #1 only.
Right now you're telling this guy to go to a Mitsu dealer to get his ecu re-flashed so he doesn't mess up his first cat converter. Well you know what? He doesn't have the first cat anymore.

Heck, just the investment in a car would necessitate letting it warm up in my eyes. I paid $14000 for my car (more after interest), and I'm not going to harm it because I'm impatient.
lol reminds me of that time i started up my old '79 350ci camaro and just stomped...after a short while it sounded like a baseball bat was hitting my block (aka slung rod grinded crank shaft.../cry)
